Live - Electro / Baroque
SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2014
Daedelus is one the hacker artists most talked about the last five years: partly because of his productivity and party because he has pushed the musical boundaries like few other producers have done. Ultra inventive and totally versatile, he has produced more than a dozen albums on prestigious labels such as Plug Research, Mush Records, Magical Properties, Ninja Tune or on the label of the talented Flying Lotus, Brainfeeder. Key figure of the electronic scene of Los Angeles, he has been sampled from his beginnings and we can find his work on the album Madvillainy of Madvillain in 2004.
As a young boy, Alfred Weisberg-Robert wanted to be an inventor (hence his pseudonym from a Greek inventor). Converted into a producer and multi-instrumentalist, he has yet never given up his boundless creativity, always serving the music. This is demonstrated by his intense discography, which contains recent collaborations with every artist of Los Angeles who matters, such as Nosaj Thing or The Gaslamp Killer, and producers of the respected label Stone Throw Records. What characterises the artist is his freshness and boundless inventiveness. It is not uncommon to hear on the same album samples from musicals of the 50’s, flows of contemporary rappers and massive and uncompromising beats. His latest album The Light Brigade, released last 29 September on Brainfeeder, is a perfect example of the stylistic range of the awesome producer.
Saturday, on the stage of the Zoo, he will give a nice overview of his talent on stage as a producer, hacker and improviser. A totally nutty live coming up!
